[Author’s Note: I made this mix after being asked by a follower about my favorite Italian songs. I put this together with the help of other Italian tumblr users, but the majority of it is straight from my playlist of “Italian songs that make me bawl.” Keep in mind that this mix was done by an Italian living in America. This means that I look over all of them with the kind of nostalgia derived from being away from home for a long time. I didn’t always love all of these songs. I have come to love them for their familiarity and the memories connected to them. Some of them are painfully clichè, some terribly critical, some are classics and others are unknown to the majority. Each one means something to me.]
Thanks to Marta for supporting me always, and for the photos (© her, except for the Isabella Ragonese photoshoot). Thanks to Shir for song suggestions.
E Tu– Claudio Baglioni
L’Amore si Odia – Noemi ft. Fiorella Mannoia
Il Regalo Più Grande – Tiziano Ferro
Meraviglioso – Negramaro
Il Mondo Nuovo – Neffa
Notte Prima Degli Esami – Antonello Venditti
Eppure Sentire – Elisa
A Te – Jovanotti
Hemingway – Negrita
Una Favola – L’Aura
In Italia – Fabri Fibra ft. Gianna Nannini
Certe Notti – Ligabue
Gocce di Memoria - Giorgia
Sei Nell’Anima – Gianna Nannini
[Most of these I love especially for their lyrics - you should find the English translations easily, but you can always hit me up if you want them, and I’ll be happy to make a post of them. Oh, and a lot more artist and songs ought to be up there. Maybe if this one goes well, there’ll be a part 2.]
